IHG Rewards Club has just announced its Fall 2014 promotion called Into the Nights. Similar to previous ‘The Big Win‘ promos, you need to complete a number of ‘Offers’ before the end of 2014 to earn extra IHG Rewards Club points. When you logon to https://intothenights.ihg.com/ you’ll see your personalized offers. Here are mine:
Each individual offer comes with a number of points. In my case, I can earn a total of 30,900 offer points. Completing all offers results in an additional bonus: the choice between a Bonus points package OR a number of Free Nights. Note that my personalized offer page states “Complete 7 of 7 offers and earn 31,000 Bonus points or 2 free nights”, your offer might state e.g. “Complete 3 of 4 offers and earn XX bonus points and X free nights”.
I’ll be able to choose between 31,000 extra bonus points or two Free Nights. The Free Nights come as digital vouchers which can be used at any ‘participating’ IHG property as long as they have award availability for your preferred date(s). The Free Night vouchers will be valid for one year. This makes the ‘Into the Nights’ promo extremely valuable if you received a decent personalized offer. Back in 2010, IHG had a similar offer which earned me free night vouchers I used at the Crowne Plaza Times Square on New Year’s Eve, the InterContinental Paris Le Grand and InterContinental London Park Lane. What offer did you get and how do you plan to spend the Free Nights?

I have completed 6 of 7 offers for into the nights. I think I may have asked for points not nights when I registered for the promotion. Can I change my preference after reading your comments the 2 nights sounds much better than 17,000 points. Thanks

If you have completed the required number offers, you should be able to select the free nights from the Into the nights promo page.

I’m also trying to use my second free night but I have not been able to find anything on IHG site for lots of different dates and locations. The promo only ended two weeks ago yet there seems to be nothing left to book. I did manage to book one night in November for a March date but now trying for a date in October there’s nothing. Not sure if I get some points back for the unused free night.

I just did a check and see plenty of availability. Not sure which hotels you are looking at. Normally the free nights availability should match on what’s available on points.

I had a few problems again today with the IHG site which seemed to be slow and the Free Night searches inconsistent. However after logging in / out a few times I’ve managed to find the hotel that I wanted as a Free Night.

If you look a the terms you can see HIX is excluded, hope this helps. Remember if you are booking more than one night under these packages, book each night separately because you will get for example 10000 points for two independent nights instead of 5000 for two consecutive nights .

Thanks for the fast reply, is it a problem that the Bonus Package has no breakfast (at Holiday Inn Express the breackfast is always automatically included)?
If you look at the Terms and Conditions HIX are excluded from the Bonus Nights Package, because breakfast is given out for free. You will need to choose HI, CP, IC for example. If you go into the offer and click on the Terms and Conditions, in the middle of those terms, you can click on an icon that will find you a package in your chosen vicinity. I have noticed that if you go into IHG´s own booking engine some Bonus Packages with Breakfast don’t appear, however going through this route the packages will materialise. HIX hotels are also being located via that route, but IHG have told me that this is an oversight on their part that they are currently trying to fix. The 5000 Bonus packages are the best value to go for, because these points are also added onto your IHG status and of course you will get to a rewards night a lot faster. Of course the downside is they can be a lot more expensive than the Best Available Rate.
Dear Bart I got a question regarding the following offer, what does it mean? What do I have to do get it :
“2,000 Bonus Points Reward
Book 1 stay using the Bonus Points Package with breakfast rate to earn more points faster”
I have next week a stay at an Holiday Inn Express, should I just add a “1,000 Bonus Point Package: 1,000 Bonus Points for Every Night” for 5 Euro to qualify?

UPDATE 1: IHG released more information about the T&C for Free Nights: “Free Nights earned are applicable only to the room nights and privileges specifically provided by this Promotion and supporting Offers, at IHG’s discretion, and are not comparable with IHG® Rewards Club Reward Nights (redeemed by points) or any other room nights. Free Nights earned from Stays, as defined in the Into the Nights terms, completed during Registration must be redeemed by 31 December 2015. Free Nights earned must be claimed by 31 January 2015 or members will automatically be awarded applicable points. Free Nights can only be used in participating IHG hotels and may not be transferred. A Free Night is valid only for one standard room night rate and applicable taxes (not including breakfast). Redemption is subject to availability of the rooms of hotels specially provided for this promotion. The hotel rooms hotels specially provided for this promotion shall be determined at IHG’s discretion. Free Nights shall be redeemed on first-come and first-served basis. Redemptions must be made 24 hours in advance by logging in to the member account on http://www.ihgrewardsclub.com. Cancellation or changes must be made 48 hours prior to 6 P.M. of arrival date. UPDATE 2: Gary at Viewfromthewing contacted the Executive Offices at IHG and got this update “I am confirming that the “free nights” earned with this promotion have the same availability as Reward Nights (using points to redeem for a free night)” This is great news as it confirms the high value of this promotion!

Installing the IHG app on your iPad and making the booking via the app is valid as well. T&C: “Qualifying Stays are booked via the IHG mobile App between 4 September 2014 and 31 December 2014 (both dates inclusive)”

Dear Bart, do you happen to now that will reservations made before the launch of this campaign count? And will IHG’s “partner rate 30”-reservations considered as a qualifying night? (probably yes as they accumulate points, unlike friends and family rates)? My offer was the easiest one (3 HI nights). Planning to use the 2 nights voucher to IC Paris la grand.
